Farm to Market Connection Conference

Producers, processors and purchasers of local food are invited to the Farm to Market. Organized by the Pure Catskills Buy Local Campaign and the Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship, the event will serve as both an educational and networking opportunity for key players in local food across our region. The day will include panel discussions featuring farmers and business people from across New York State, workshops related to direct-sales marketing of farm products, a lunch of local food and an afternoon tradeshow for farmers and buyers.

Silvopasture Workshop

This Cornell Cooperative Extension program will be an in-depth introduction to silvopasturing. It will explain how a farmer or rural landowner can put these practices to use to achieve income and farming goals, particularly on marginal or hilly land. The idea is to improve long-term woodlot and pasture areas while earning short-term income from beef cattle, goats, sheep, and other livestock.

He and his family run a diversified livestock operation and will discuss their poultry operation. He will discuss their brooding, nutrition management, predator control, pasture systems, processing and marketing.
The program will include a tour of the farm and the licensed and inspected poultry slaughter shop.
